I would recommend watching the Swedish film, Lilya 4-EVER (Memfis Films, 2002, Director Moodysson). This movie is an example of an essentially orphaned teenager who lives in utter poverty. She barely has a roof over her head. Without giving away the details of the film, it is difficult to say much more. However, it shows how a trafficking victim can become a victim in the first place. And, it shows the horrors that await them once lured in. This teen's story happens all over the world, every day. Let's put ourselves in THEIR shoes....This film helps us do that.
Another film is Human Trafficking (2005, Director Duguay). This film does a fantastic job at showing how victims can become trafficked as well. It also shows corruption that exists, which can hinder the fight against trafficking.
In order to feel connected to a problem, we must first sometimes have to SEE the problem, even if only in a film.
